Welcome Hurricane Season

July 1st was not only Canada Day, but the official start day of hurricane seasno. The wind gets crazy! The rain can go on for hours, even days! Worst of all ... it means extra sea days for us. On port days, the playroom is usually pretty empty. We tend to have at most 20 kids between 2 - 11. On sea days, we can have up to 150 kids between 9 - 11. Last week, due to winds and high waves, we werent able to dock in Costa Maya, which meant a port day turned sea day and more hours for us to work. Not only that, but the people are usually not happy because their excursions get canceled and they miss one of their ports. My only hope is that we do not have to many of these days. Another bad thing about hurricane season is the rocking of the ship. A lot of the kdis get sea sick. Also, because my cabin is at the bottom on the front of the ship, I constantly hear the waves hitting the front of the ship! It is so loud it frequently wakes me up. That is just part of ship life =)
