Kids That Touch Your Heart
Working in the school system and in preschools has allowed me to meet many kids. However, working on the Carnival Dream has allowed me to meet many more types of kids. Each of these kids has touched my heart one way or another. From the spoiled child to the angelic child to the autistic child, every single one of them has made me a better person in the week they are with us. My first week here there were two autistic children in our 2-5 year old group. My heart just aches for these children and their families. These children cannot help the way they act. They so bad want to fit in with the world around them; they just do not know how. These children make me think of the Jodi Picoult book, House Rules. This book is about the life of an autistic boy from his perspective, as well as the perspective of his mother and his brother. It is beautifully written and I greatly recommend it. Back to the kids I meet here ... This week we have a little boy whom we have nicknamed," The Professor." He is 2 years old but very tiny due to being born prematurely. Needless to say this little boy has melted the hearts of all of us girls in Camp Carnival. I am so grateful for the experiences I have here with these kids. I am growing so much not only as a teacher, but as a person as well. With each person we meet we have the opportunity to grow and learn, no matter the age, sex, or size of the person. That is all for tonight ... Until next time everyone ...

I'm loving your blog Amy. I'm learning so much about life on the ship. Please keep sharing your experiences. Maybe this is something Nicole will do someday. In fact, I think it should be mandatory that everyone does it in their lifetime. Like you say, you learn a lot about yourself and about life. Take Care! We miss you!
